Leak & flood protection · Inverness

Stop the leak before it becomes an insurance claim.

A burst pipe or a slow leak can cost thousands and leave you out of your home for weeks. Firstpoint fits smart water shut-off valves and self-closing flood air bricks across Inverness and the Highlands, so you spend a little now instead of a lot later.

Why it matters

Prevention costs less than a claim.

We have spent years on the other side of this, doing fire and water reinstatement for insurers. We know what an escape of water claim really costs a household, and it is usually far more than the excess.

Without protection

A pipe fails while you are at work or away.

  • Water runs for hours through ceilings, floors and walls
  • Drying out, stripping out and rebuilding
  • Weeks of disruption, sometimes out of your home
  • An insurance claim, your excess, and maybe a higher premium

With a smart shut-off

The valve spots the leak and acts on its own.

  • Unusual water flow is detected
  • The supply is shut off automatically
  • You get an alert on your phone
  • You mop up a little water, not a whole house

UK insurers pay out over £1.8 million a day for escape of water damage (Association of British Insurers). Some insurers now offer discounts for homes with a smart shut-off fitted, so it is worth asking yours.

What we fit

Two ways to keep water out.

One deals with water from inside the house, the other with flood water from outside. We recommend what suits your property, often one and sometimes both.

Sonic smart water shut-off

From £549 inc VAT, fully installed

A smart valve by Watergate, fitted on your incoming water main. It learns how your household normally uses water and closes the supply automatically if it detects a leak.

  • Automatic shut-off when a leak is detected
  • Alerts and remote on/off from the app
  • Shows your water use, so you can spot waste
  • Fitted, tested and set up before we leave

Standard fit, Inverness area. Travel is quoted separately for other parts of the Highlands.

Self-closing flood air bricks

Priced on survey

Air bricks let your underfloor breathe, but in a flood they are one of the first ways water gets in. Anti-flood air bricks ventilate like normal ones and seal themselves shut when flood water rises.

  • Replaces your existing air bricks
  • Closes automatically, nothing to put up
  • Normal ventilation the rest of the time
  • Kitemark-certified options available (PAS 1188)

Questions

Common questions

Will it reduce my home insurance premium?

It can. Some UK insurers give a discount when a smart water shut-off is fitted, but not all do, so check with your insurer. Either way, it cuts the chance of having to make an escape of water claim at all.

What if the device develops a fault?

Every device comes with the manufacturer's warranty, and we register it for you at handover. A smart shut-off greatly reduces the risk of water damage, but no device can rule it out completely. It works alongside your home insurance, not instead of it.

Will my water go off without warning?

Only if the valve detects a leak. You get an alert on your phone and can turn the water back on from the app once you have checked.

Do I need Wi-Fi?

For alerts and the app, yes. We check your signal at the survey.

Is my property at flood risk?

You can check your address on SEPA's flood maps. If you are near a river, burn or the coast, we will talk you through whether flood air bricks make sense for your home.

What could change the price?

The from price covers a standard fit on an easily accessible incoming water main in the Inverness area. If your stopcock is hard to reach, the pipework needs altering, or you are elsewhere in the Highlands, we will tell you at the free survey and include it in a fixed written quote before you agree to anything. Travel outside the Inverness area is charged at £1.14 a mile including VAT.
